|:: CGPR MISSION ::|
The Center is organized to:
- provide expanded educational opportunities for regularly enrolled graduate students, geotechnical engineering practitioners, and others involved in the many facets of geotechnical engineering.
- conduct research on geotechnical problems of far reaching generic importance and current practical importance, and
- enhance the knowledge base and practice level of geotechnical engineering.
The Center represents a new direction in professional engineering education and cooperative interaction between engineering practitioners, engineering faculty, and engineering students. It brings together an academic institution, professional practice firms, governmental agencies, and companies involved in geo-engineering and construction.
This interaction promotes open communication of industry needs, industry access to university resources, and rapid transfer of research results back to industry. In today’s climate of shrinking research budgets, company downsizing, and increased competition at all levels, partnering of this type provides benefits to all participants.
