Annual Lecture Program

The annual lecture program was instituted to provide an opportunity for geotechnical practitioners to present case histories or topics of current interest to students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty, and other CGPR members. The forum provides CGPR members an opportunity to showcase their talents, activities, and expertise to students, faculty, and the profession.

Lectures are 50 minutes, separated by 10-minute breaks, in the traditional academic style. The daylong program produces stimulating discussion and interaction among the participants. Regularly scheduled geotechnical engineering graduate lectures are cancelled for the day so all graduate students are able to attend the full program.

Annual Meetings

Representatives of CGPR member firms gather annually at Virginia Tech on the day preceding the Annual Lecture Program, to hear summaries of Center activities, financial standing, and thoughts on new directions for the Center. Graduate research assistants present summaries of their research. Members are encouraged to provide input to guide Center activities for the upcoming year.
